A Merry Affair
Starbucks swinging songs of red velvet and mistletoe kisses

Twas once upon a night, sometime in December,
All snowy and starry, I seem to remember.
I was there at the ball in my red velvet dress,
With the jewels and the sparkle and all of the rest.

The music was swinging and I was swaying along,
When I felt a gloved hand brush against my bare arm.
Out on the dance floor he lead me with grace,
As we spun, I caught a quick glimpse of his face.

It was familiar somehow, sort of jolly and merry,
I thought as we twirled beneath mistletoe berries.

Then he whispered a kiss that I felt to my toes,
Gave a wink and a grin and turned quickly to go.

I followed behind him as fast as I could,
But the staircase was steep and my shoes were no good.
When I got to the street he was nowhere in sight,
Just a sleigh in the distance with the jingle bells bright.

And that's when it hit me - when I grew aware,
That the thing of this fling was a Merry Affair.
